BioBase Tips & Tricks – Mapping Water Temperature Data

BioBase is full of features but not all of them are well known or used often. This post is to walk you thought a step by step process of pulling surface water temperature from your CSV BioBase data.

Step 1. Locate the waterbody you want to pull surface water temperature data from.

Locate on your dashboard the waterbody of your trip.

Step 2. Click analyze/edit button the trip you want to pull your surface water quality data from.

Click Analyze/Edit on the trip you want to pull the data from.

Step 3. Click on the “Tools” option on the left side of the screen to open the “Tools” menu

Step 4. Click on “Export Data” in the tools menu.

Step 5. Export the CSV data from the trip.

Step 6.Click “Depth” under the layer source, and “point” under the data type.

Step 7. Click submit once you have selected “depth” and “point”.

Step 8. The CSV data now contains the Water Temperature with each corresponding point.

One way to use the CSV data is to insert it as a layer in QGIS and create a map like below.
